CHAPTER 9

c. To Forgive Sins
9:1-8

1 And stepping into a boat, He crossed over and came to His ^1aown city.

2 ^aAnd behold, they brought to Him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And Jesus, ¹seeing their ^bfaith, said to the paralytic, Take ^ccourage, child; your ²sins are ^dforgiven.

3 And behold, some of the ¹scribes said within themselves, This man ^2ablasphemes.

4 And Jesus, ^1aknowing their ²thoughts, said, Why are you ^bthinking evil things in your hearts?

5 For which is ¹easier, to say, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, ²Rise and walk?

6 But that you may know that the ^aSon of Man has ¹authority on earth to ^bforgive sins -- then He said to the paralytic, Rise, ^2ctake up your bed and ³go to your house.

7 And he ¹rose and went away to his house.

8 And when the crowds saw this, they ^afeared and ^bglorified God, who had given such authority to men.
